Transhumanism the pseudo religious Utopian paradigm to come

April 12, 2009 Leave a comment

Do you truly believe that the religious paradigms won’t be tapped into as we transcend into “immortal beings”?  What does transhumanism mean to religion?

Why is there no place for science in religion yet science embraces religion?
Not only does science embrace religion in its quest for immortality but it uses religion as the guiding light towards obtaining the “fruit from the tree of life”

Hanson (1998) is also skeptical of human intelligence augmentation, writing that once one has exhausted the “low-hanging fruit” of easy methods for increasing human intelligence, further improvements will become increasingly difficult to find.

The closer and closer we get to the singularity the closer science and religion will become, as they feed off each other.  Science is the new dominant religion on the planet and it is seeking the age-old quest of immortality.

Will transhumanism be seen as a new religion towards building a utopia?

When the merger comes, and it will, there will be a bounty not just on your body but mind and soul. At last science will achieve what religions have been promising for eons, but will this alliance be taken with no opposition?

All of this is the promise of ever lasting peace or a Utopian society.  But is complete extinction of our humanity necessary to enter this digital utopia?  The digital divide of real and virtual could certantly play as a rapture event in human history.

Shall we peruse this with a digital back up of “us” humans or are we just a beta of a grander program?
